Miley Cyrus to concentrate on movies -Quits music

Miley Cyrus’s ardent followers were really disappointed after hearing the news that she will be quitting her singing profession in exchange for acting.

Cyrus is recently working for her upcoming movie The Last Song and is excited to enter the glitzy profession as an actress full time. She mentioned that her recent album will be released in the month of June and would be her last album as a singer. After that she will be full-fledged into acting.

Last year, Cyrus had announced while quitting her show, Hannah Montana that “she had grown out” of the role she had played since she was 12 years old.

The fourth and last music album for Cyrus would be ‘I Can’t Be Tamed’.

MAC Dame's Desire, Give me Liberty of London + Prim & Proper

I picked up a couple of products from MAC's Liberty of London collection a couple of weeks ago.

Here is an FOTD using a couple of the products:

On my eyes I used only two eye shadows: MAC's Dame's Desires eye shadow all over the lid going slightly above the crease. Then on the outer edges of MAC's Dame's Desires, I used MAC's Give Me Liberty of London eye shadow. I am also wearing MAC #4 lashes

On my cheeks I am using MAC's Prim & Proper blush

On my lips I am using MAC's Hue lipstick (from the permanent MAC line)

Here are the product picures and swatches.

First up, MAC's Dame's Desires eye shadow

Next is MAC's Give Me Liberty of London eye shadow

Here are swatches. The top swatch is MAC Birds & Berries eye shadow from the collection however I did not use it in this FOTD. The middle swatch is Dame's Desires and the bottom swatch which is difficult to see is the warm peachy colour of Give me Liberty of London

Here is the MAC Prim & Proper blush that I used in my FOTD

Here is the swatch of the blush

Have you checked out MAC's latest collection called Trip?
And my friend Dale was so sweet to send me a flower arrangement on Monday before his flight out of Toronto.

Oooo and it came with a $50 gift certificate to the movies :) That's the first time I think I got something in a flower arrangement. I know what I'm going to spend it on already - I want to use it to see Toy Story 3 in 3D when it comes out this summer!!!

The bouquet is so Spring and pretty:

Aren't these flowers so pretty?! They even stuck a fake butterly on a stick in it

It's the first time Dale has sent me a bouquet that was not roses. In the past month we had a couple of serious discussions about our friendship. I think at one point he really wanted it to be more than just friends but I stood firm on wanting just a platonic relationship. I'm happy that it's worked out and I think this type of flower arrangement reflects that :)
Angelique is a lovely blogger with great hauls (lots of gorgeous lippie hauls lately) and she's having a giveaway to thank her first 50 followers. Look at the prize - OMG that HK bag is soooo cute, she's also giving away those Red Cherry lashes I keep hearing about but can't buy in Toronto and then the Beauty Diary masks as well as others:

Check out her blog. Her giveaway is here.
Aaaand, don't forget to check out my sponsored giveaway here if you live in the USA or Canada. You can win of the six prizes! My giveaway ends in two days and I will announce the winner on my blog after the long weekend :)
How is your week coming along so far? Do you have plans for the weekend yet?

Miley Cyrus to appears on The Ellen DeGeneres Show -31stmarch

We're still not over Miley Cyrus' weird hair-flinging - or convulsions, as Zap2It put it - during her song on last night's American Idol, (please head to the Lifeline Live FORUM to tell me I'm not alone in this) - but ... onward.

The pop star appears on The Ellen DeGeneres Show next week on Wednesday, March 31st, and Ellen gives her two bikes? Why? Because Ellen says she has seen Miley riding her bike with new boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

Miley tells Ellen the chemistry with Liam when they first started filming The Last Song was "kind of awkward. We were both like, I liked him a little bit, he liked me a little bit, but it was awkward. Then I was like, 'Ok, just fake it. Please just pretend you like me,' and he was like, 'I don't have to pretend. I really do like you.' Ok, you're going to be my boyfriend cool. ... I was like, 'Good,' and we've been together for 10 months now and I'm really happy."

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were cycling

... to the local 7-Eleven in Toluca Lake, California. 'The Last Song' co-stars (and real life couple) were spotted riding

their bikes to the convenience store.

Apparently, Miley Cyrus got upset with a paparazzo and stopped to confront him (see thumbnail below). He must have said

something really out-of-line for her to confront him.

Billy Ray Cyrus waited for Miley and Liam Hemsworth in the 7-Eleven parking lot. I guess they figured riding their bikes

one way was enough (or they decided they'd had enough of the paparazzi :).

Brant House, The Spotted Dick + a pair of Guess shoes

I love to go clubbing :)

On Saturday night Jasmin, Mandy and I went to Brant House nightclub again.

Here's my beautiful friend Mandy (right) and I (left). My purple dress is from Sirens

Mandy again:

My other beautiful friend Jasmin:

On Sunday I met up with Dale since he's flying back out to Calgary this afternoon.

We went to see Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland together.

Both Dale and I really enjoyed the movie!

If you've seen or read Alice in Wonderland, who is your favourite character? I can't decide who's my favourite. Dale likes Chester the cat.

And Dale wanted to buy me a pair of shoes before he flew back out West. Okay, I've been going on and on about the Guess peep toe platform shoe in the style name Hondo for some time now.

They are very comfortable on me and I think they're great with jeans or a dress.

So I asked Dale if I could get that same Guess shoe in a coral colour that I saw at the shoe store Sterling. And he did buy this for me :) For some reason, I have not seen this colour shoe at the Guess Store yet.

After the movie and shopping, Dale and I went to The Spotted Dick pub to catch the end of a March Madness basketball game

How was your weekend? Did you relax and/or head out for a bit?

It's Easter long weekend this weekend! Do you have a long weekend as well where you are? Any plans?!
I'll be taking a road trip with my parents and older sister to Pennsylvania for shopping at Grove City outlets :)

Friday Night Branthouse + Parsley to fight onion breath!

Last night my friend Alex and I wanted to check out The Courthouse nightclub. We found out it was closed after taking a cab there. Ugh, closed on a Friday?!! Anyways, I decided we should go to trusty Brant House nightclub.

My signature sleepy look ;)

And here's Alex. Not the most flattering picture but in all his other pictures his eyes are shut

And sometimes the strangest things make me happy - like these two basil and parsley herb plants I bought on Thursday

They were only $2.99 each at Sobeys!

And maybe I'm crazy but I think these plants are kinda cute :)

I intended on buying the parsley plant because I love to eat foods with lots of garlic and onions in them. If you're like me, you'll know that even if you brush your teeth after eating, about 10 minutes after that the garlic and onion scent creep back into your breath.

Chewing gum helps. But if I'm drinking beer (any carbonated beverage), it makes me burp and yep....no need to explain further LOL.

So I heard eating parsley really helps onion breath and parsley is also often found in doggie dental bones so it must work - hence my new plant. Now I can eat my favourite foods on nights that I'm going out and drinking carbonated beverages :) I'll just wash down my onion/garlic ladden dinner with a few leaves of parsley and basil. I hope it works!

Are you currently growing any indoor plants/herbs? (no not those kinda herbs silly! LOL)

How did you spend your Friday evening?

;) Karen

Guess & The Body Shop - gifts from Dale

My friend Dale is in Toronto this week and I got together with him for lunch yesterday at Baton Rouge.

He's a really kind person & likes to take me shopping once in a while. He wanted to take me to Forever21 but I didn't think there was anything there that I wanted so I asked if I could go to Guess because there was this watch I've been eyeing the past month.
And I'm so happy he bought it for me :) Yay!

Dale also bought me these Guess shoes. They are still sold online here

I really love this shoe. I'm obsessed with patent leather peep toe platforms. I have the same Guess shoe (style name Hondo) in a nude colour which I bought back in January and did a post about it here.
The sole is rubber so it makes it slip proof (yay!). And they are very easy to walk in and dance in. They are also comfortable :)

Dale was sweet enough to pick up a couple of my favourites at The Body Shop.

I love their vanilla lotion. It smells so yummy! It's my favourite vanilla scented lotion :)
He also bought me the Hemp Hand Protector which I love.
The sales associate was very helpful and she included a sample of the Hemp Hand Scrub as well as a sample of their Love Etc eau de parfum. It's a very pleasant floral scent.

Dale bought a couple of things for himself and the total came to about $75 CDN. I'm not sure what promo is going on at the moment but I got to chose a full sized Spa Wisdom item for free :) So I chose the Africa Spa Rich Body Balm (which is $25 CDN usually!)
Dale also brought back a couple of things for me from Calgary where he lives. He got me extras of the Absolutely Natural Peppermint foot cream, a bottle of the Absolutely Natural Rose Hips lotion, as well as a luggage tag with my initial on it.

How is your week coming along? Do you have plans for this weekend?

:) Karen
Psst: If you live in Canada or the USA and have a blogger account, check out my giveaway here. There's still one more week to enter :) Good luck!

Miracle in a bottle....or maybe not

It's one of those things I'm a bit ashamed to admit.

I am 25 and the dreaded onset of cellulite is just inevitable *huge sigh and a groan thrown in*

Like wrinkles I fight in vain with various creams and lotions to postpone it as long as I can or at least, hopefully keep the problem at a minimum. Fingers crossed ;)

I have been through probably five or more bottles of the Nivea Good-bye Cellulite Gel in the past year and a half.

It works okay. At first I did see some results around the 2-3 week mark on my first bottle - reduced appearance of minimal cellulite. After there were no further improvements to be honest. And more than five bottles later it has not performed anything that probably a few daily squats wouldn't LOL.

My boyfriend calls products like this snake oil.

I know there's no product that can replace an active lifestyle and healthy eating habits. Seeing that I'm not committed in either of the two categories nor will I be satisfied until I have tried a vast range of cellulite removal creams, I will continue my search!

Another Nivea product I have bought once was the Good-bye Cellulite Patch

I do not recommend the patches. These patches DO NOT stick at all.

There is a film of gel along one side of the patch and that is the side that contains the magic ingredient to zap cellulite. The gel is much more slippery than it is adhesive. I couldn't even think of wearing these patches while walking or doing daily activities because they would fall off right away.

Out of frustration I remember having my boyfriend use heavy duty scotch tape to tape those patches to my ass and thighs before bedtime and it still did not stick! Haha Yes, it was as funny as it sounds

So fess up - are you seeking any miracles in a bottle too? ;)

If you're in Canada or USA, check out my first giveaway here. There's one of six neat prizes you could win! Contest ends next Friday April 2nd....

Weekend Movie + Foodie

Friday night was DVD + pizza night!

I saw Law Abiding Citizen.

(source: google image)

It was interesting yet totally unrealistic, but it got the point through to me. There were definitely scenes that were too violent for my liking and I would have difficultly watching this movie on my own.

Have you seen this movie yet? What was the last movie you saw?

My condo is right beside a pizza joint called Panago Pizza. The toppings are really good! So far it is my favourite pizza place!

Evgueni and I tried the new Italian Deli pizza here. OMG, it's better than the New York Deli pizza (I'm such a meat lover)

Mmmm and wings! My favourite wings at Panago are the Honey Mustard ones here

I was flipping through a magazine a couple of weeks ago and came across this ad:

How neat is that? It's a straw made of oreos. Yum.
I use to eat a few Oreo cookies every night along with a glass of milk as a kid. And I love anything Oreo flavoured!

Have you heard of Oreo Fun Stix or tried them yet?

How was your weekend?

MAC Rich Life Pigment, MAC Pink Opal Pigment & Ardell 107s

I went out to Brant House night club last night and this was my FOTD / OOTD

I want to lie and say the next picture was photo shopped because the lighting looks cool! LOL. But really, I got Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 about a month ago and only know how to crop pictures so far.

This picture came out orang-y somehow when I turned the flash on

Dress from Forever21
Shoes from Aldos

I used three eye shadows. From left to right (swatches are on my hand): MAC Rich Life pigment, MAC Mulled Cider eye shadow and MAC Pink Opal pigment.

MAC Rich Life pigment is slightly difficult for me to blend. But it's a very flattering colour and great for a brown smokey eye look.

The lashes that I now depend on when I'm doing a dark smokey eye are the Ardell 107s.

The Ardell 107s give me the right amount of dramatic volume and length so that the lashes don't get hidden by the dark eye shadow. I'm wearing a pair of them in all the pictures in this post.

A couple of pictures from last night. This my gorgeous bestie Jasmin on the left.

Since Jasmin was not smiling, this is take 2:

You may or may not recall Marc whom we have befriended from Brant House. I just had to include this funny picture of him washing down his tequila shot

Sucker!!! Haha. Tell me you didn't laugh too :)

And to do him some justice, he looked like this most of the night ;)

I am still on my antibiotics for my respiratory infection so I did not drink any alcohol last night.

My 2nd night sober in a club.

Jasmin and even random gentlemen in the club have told me I looked so happy last night as well last week when I went clubbing sober. I do not think I have ever had a gentleman tell me I look happy when I'm buzzed or really drunk. Since last weekend when I started my antibiotics, I have begun to seriously contemplate the role of alcohol in my social life.

Is there anything in your life right now that you're seriously reflecting upon to better yourself?

On a lighter note, how is your week coming along? Do you have plans for this weekend? :)
